Yangon Fish Market
In the pre-dawn hours the fishing fleet motors up the Yangon River to offload their night's catch. Fish is packed in crates, iced down, and presented to the fish mongers for sale to the city's merchants. Nuns may wander through buying for their nunnery. Betel nut vendors ply their stimulant to fuel the laborers. Women young and old scrounge for scraps and dropped fish. As the sun rises the bosses count the sales, figure their profits, and when the last fish is accounted for everyone takes a much need break.
